Dear members of the EHTF, Following the 2025 WHO report on <https://www.who.int/europe/publications/i/item/WHO-EURO-2025-12214-51986-79744> Nature-based solutions and Health and the consultation with Member States through the EHTF in September 2025, WHO is planning the next report on NbS and health, to be published in May 2027. The report will focus on practical examples of NbS implementation and their benefits for health. To support this work, we are pleased to invite you to submit implemented NbS examples and related experiences from across Member States in the WHO European Region, covering a wide range of institutional settings (such as day care, schools, workplaces and nursing homes). National, regional and urban experiences and case studies on NbS and health can be submitted until 30 April at <https://extranet.who.int/dataformv6/NbS-Case-Studies> https://extranet.who.int/dataformv6/NbS-Case-Studies . Submission take approximately 15-20 minutes and are only possible in English. Case studies should: 1. be fully implemented by 2025 to allow for an assessment of impacts, and 2. demonstrate impacts on health and wellbeing (e.g. affecting health risks and determinants, promoting healthy lifestyles, or directly improving wellbeing even if health and wellbeing are not primary objectives of the NbS). As you may recall, during the September 2025 consultation on NbS and health, Member States highlighted knowledge gaps related to: 1. Clear guidance, legal frameworks & mandates 2. Robust evidence and research 3. Capacity, funding & expertise 4. Improved understanding of health impacts & co-benefits 5. Use of NbS to highlight shared goals & co-benefits 6. Create cross-sectoral structures & processes 7. Leverage practical examples & evidence 8. Enable political support, awareness & mutual understanding The compilation of case studies and national experiences on nature-based solutions and health will help address these areas. Submitted case studies will be reviewed by WHO, with support from its Collaborating Centre for Natural Environments and Health at the University of Exeter. Selected submissions may be further explored in more detail and featured in the 2027 report on NbS and health. For this WHO is calling for already implemented NbS examples and related experiences from all 53 WHO Member States of the WHO European Region – covering all spatial scales and all types of settings, and also including application of NbS in health care settings or other institutionalized settings (such as, daycare, school, workplace, nursing home). The NbS case study examples should be fully implemented by 2025 to allow for an assessment of impacts, and have an impact on health and wellbeing, either by affecting health risks and determinants, promoting healthy lifestyles, or enhancing health and wellbeing directly (even if health and wellbeing are not primary objectives of the NbS). Please note that submitted case study examples will be reviewed by WHO through its Collaborating Centre for Natural Environments and Health at the University of Exeter, and selected submissions will be revisited in more detail. Some of the case studies may be featured in the forthcoming report on NbS and Health in 2027. This online submission form should take around 15-20 minutes to fill.
