ACADEMY BLENDED INTERNATIONAL LABOUR STANDARDS INTERNATIONAL LABOUR STANDARDS ACADEMY 11 – 29 MAY 2026 ONLINE (E-CAMPUS): 11 – 22 MAY 2026 TURIN, ITALY: 25 – 29 MAY 2026 Information Note  Flagship training jointly organized and implemented by the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) and the International Labour Standards Department (NORMES) of the International Labour Office, in collaboration with the ILO Field Offices. International labour standards (ILS) adopted and supervised by the International Labour Organization provide a tried and trusted normative foundation to guide Member States for a human-centred approach to a world of work in need of resolute action to promote social justice and to fully implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. ILS support policy coherence, provide a level playing field within and across countries to push back at inequalities, drive productivity gains needed to sustain decent standards of living, and regenerate trust in an open global economy that leaves no one behind. The Academy is a global event offering a choice of highly-specialized tracks on ILS specifically designed to meet the needs of different target groups. It provides in-depth understanding of the comprehensive system of ILS and its application at national level. During its plenary Master Classes, participants with various professional backgrounds explore the ILO’s normative action presented in the current context. The Master Classes help to generate focussed discussions, to exchange on common challenges and good practices, and to network with professionals interested in and working on standards-related matters. TRACKS z Track 1 / Constituents: ILS for the tripartite constituents. z Track 2 / Legal practitioners: ILS for judges, lawyers and legal educators. TARGET AUDIENCE z Government officials responsible for matters relating to national and international labour standards, including the fulfilment of the obligations laid down by the ILO Constitution. z Representatives of employers’ and workers’ organizations responsible for ILO matters. z Judges from courts and tribunals that deal with labour litigation. z Labour lawyers and legal experts who represent the interests of employers’ and workers’ organizations. z University law teachers. z ILO and UN officials interested in mainstreaming ILS may also benefit from the Academy. APPROACH Each specialized track is designed for a specific audience and their professional needs. Tracks combine: z knowledge assessment at the start and at the end of the learning journey; z flexible and interactive self-guided modules with readings, videos and quizzes in the online phase; z presentations followed by plenary discussions and practical activities to be carried out in groups in Turin; z daily plenary Master Classes in the residential phase in order to exchange knowledge, ideas and experiences. iNTERNATIONAL LABOUR STANDARDS ACADEMY 2 RESOURCE PERSONS z Members and former members of the ILO supervisory bodies, including the Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR). z Specialists from the International Labour Office (HQs and field) and trainers from the ITCILO. z External experts from the ILO’s constituents, the academia and the judiciary. LANGUAGE The Academy is conducted in English. A good command of the working language is required. CERTIFICATE On completing the selected track, participants are entitled to get the digital certificate of participation specifically issued by the ITCILO for the Academy. COSTS The total cost of participation is 2,685 Euros. This includes tuition fees (1,930 Euros) and subsistence costs (755 Euros). The tuition fees cover: course preparation, implementation and evaluation; training materials and books; the use of training facilities, support services, and the ITCILO eCampus; emergency medical insurance. Subsistence costs cover: full board and lodging on the ITCILO Campus during the residential phase. The amounts quoted do not include the cost of travel between the participant’s home country and the course venue. Participants must ensure that they have a valid passport and appropriate entry visa for Italy, and for any country in which a transit or stopover to or from the course venue is required. The cost of the visa, airport taxes, internal travel in the participant’s home country and unauthorized stopovers is not covered. SPEC IF IC OBJEC T I V E S For participants to gain: z in-depth knowledge of the instruments and supervisory machinery of the ILS system; z ability to use the analysis and pronouncements of the ILO supervisory bodies; z capability to determine in which instances domestic judges and lawyers can use international labour law to solve labour disputes; z capacity to identify and make use of ILS in selected areas; z knowledge of how to use the databases on ILS and on case law relying on them. The Academy constitutes the flagship event on the ILO’s normative mandate. It is jointly organized by the International Labour Standards Department and the International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO) in Turin. As per established practice, the Academy will have a blended format and will precede the annual session of the International Labour Conference. The Academy will consist of two complementary phases: an online phase from 11 to 22 May, followed by an in-person phase in Turin, Italy, from 25 to 29 May. It will offer a choice of two highly specialized tracks specifically designed to meet the needs of the tripartite constituents on the one hand, and judges, lawyers and legal educators on the other hand. Sessions will explore the relevance of the ILO’s normative contribution in the world of work and in the multilateral environment, in a context of profound and rapid changes, and will include discussions on common challenges and good practices. Participation of tripartite constituents is encouraged, in particular of government, employers’ and workers’ representatives who are: * directly involved in the preparation of reports under articles 19 and 22 of the ILO Constitution within Ministries, or observations under article 23 of the ILO Constitution by employers’ and workers’ organizations; * regularly participating in national tripartite bodies mandated to discuss standards-related matters; * taking part in the International Labour Conference as delegates/technical advisers and thus participating in the discussions on the adoption and application of ILS; or * taking part in meetings of ILO’s main bodies on standards-related issues. The Academy will be conducted in English. Additional working languages may be added, if a minimum number of participants is reached.
