Please find enclosed a letter from the Presidents of the Court of Justice of the European Union and of the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria
regarding the EUnited in Diversity III Conference on “The Role of Constitutional Justice in the EU Common Legal Order”, which will be held in Sofia from 3 to 5 September 2025.

concernant l’organisation de la conférence EUnited in Diversity III sur « Le rôle de la justice constitutionnelle dans l’ordre juridique commun de l’Union européenne », qui se tiendra à Sofia,
du 3 au 5 septembre 2025.
Nous vous invitons à réserver ces dates dans vos agendas. Une invitation formelle sera envoyée au plus tard au printemps 2025.

Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to inform you that the EUnited in Diversity III Conference on “the Role of
Constitutional Justice in the EU Common Legal Order” will take place in Sofia on 4 and
5 September 2025.
We plan to start with an informal welcoming reception in the evening of Wednesday 3
September 2025.
After the formal opening of the conference on Thursday 4 September 2025, there will be four
panel discussions on Thursday and Friday, focussing on the following topics:
1. The Allocation of Competences between the Member States and the EU.
2. Identity of the EU and EU constitutionalism in times of crisis: Constitutional Courts
and the Court of Justice.
3. Different National Constitutional Law Constellations Relevant for EU law.
4. Application and Interpretation of EU Law: Constitutional Courts and the Court of
Justice.
The closing of the conference will take place on Friday 5 September 2025 late afternoon.
This follow-up conference is intended to serve as a forum to continue the judicial dialogue on
how to balance the unity and diversity dimensions of European Union and national
constitutional law. A delegation of two Judges and one staff member from each Constitutional
Court of the Member States of the European Union is invited, as well as participants from the
Court of Justice of the European Union. Staff members will be invited to take part in a round
table discussion among them on an issue of common interest.
