SUPREME COURT REPUBLIC OF ESTONIA Chief Justice Aigars Strupišs Supreme Court of the Republic of Latvia 36 BrTvrbas bulvaris LV-15llRiga LATVIA Tartu, 14March2024 Dear Mr. Aigars Strupišs, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the invitation to participate in the international conference "Values of the European Union - the responsibility of every national judge", which is organised in connection with the 20th anniversary of Latvia's accession to the European Union. This Conference marks an important milestone in Latvia's history, similar to Estonia's, when it joined the European community of shared values, rights and economics. Regrettably, I am unable to attend the International Conference due to many prior commitments which cannot be rearranged. In May, there are several international meetings taking place organised e.g. by the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Courts, the Conference of European Constitutional Courts and ACA-Europe, which affect mine and my colleagues' schedule. Unfortunately, the second half of May is even busier due to the fact, that on the 24th of May I am chairing a session of the Council for the Administration of Courts, then preparing for the General Assembly of Estonian judges, which is taking place on the 30th of May, and between those meetings the Supreme Court of Estonia is hosting a delegation of l5 Ukrainian judges in Estonia. I once again express my sincere regrets for not being able to travel to Riga and wish you every success with the organisation of the event! Mr. Janar Jäätma, Judge of the Tallinn Circuit Court, Adviser at the Supreme Court of Estonia will represent our Court and address your proposed topic at the Conference.
