Letter of Support for “LIFE-23-IPE-EE-LIFE SIP WET-EST” project
With this letter we express the support and interest of the Geological Survey of the Republic of
Estonia in the LIFE-23-IPE-EE-LIFE SIP WET-EST project, acronym LIFE SIP WetEST,
entitled “Enabling collaborative efforts for systemic change in Estonian river basin
management.” This initiative, led by the Ministry of Climate of the Republic of Estonia and
other partners, seeks to address significant environmental challenges outlined in the River Basin
Management Plan (RBMP) for the West-Estonia River Basin District.
Given our responsibility for groundwater resources studies in Estonia, the Geological Survey
is particularly interested in project subjects such as agricultural diffuse pollution, melioration,
and dangerous substances. We recognize the importance of these issues and their impact on our
natural environment. Consequently, we find it very useful to incorporate the results of Work
Package 6: “Advancing melioration practices that support the ecological status of catchments”
and Work Package 8: “Upscaling pollutant control” into our groundwater body conceptual
models and methodology for assessing groundwater body status in Estonia.
We look forward to the next steps of the LIFE SIP WetEST project and anticipate future
cooperation opportunities. By working together, we can make meaningful progress in
addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable river basin management
practices.
Thank you for considering our support for this important initiative. Please do not hesitate to
reach out if you require further assistance or information.
Sincerely
(Signed digitally)
