How are these objectives linked to the priorities you have selected? We start from the basic assumption that successful teaching is based on successful relationships, and we also assume that there are differences in the design of relationships between teachers and learners in face-to-face teaching and in digital teaching. We want to work out together which factors influence the design of contact and relationships in digital learning formats (relationship didactics). We want to contribute to the design of good relationships in e-learning, i.e. in a learning format in which essential elements of relationship design, such as eye contact, are omitted. With the project, we are essentially pursuing the following goals. Firstly, we will identify the different horizons of experience or knowledge of the partners involved, analyse them and then record them in such a way that all partners can benefit from them and take away suggestions for the further development of their own organisation or their own vocational training. In the second step, based on the inventory of the different horizons of experience of all partners, we will compile a compilation that contains concrete suggestions and possibilities for shaping contacts and relationships in digital learning processes. In doing so, we will draw on the knowledge and experience of a well-known theatre pedagogue from Ferrara/Italy as well as on the findings from science and research of the participating universities. In this way, we want to develop ways to increase the quality of vocational education and training by having the partners involved in this project meet, get to know each other and explore together the extent to which relationships can be developed and deepened. With this project we contribute to increase the quality of vocational training for people with disabilities who cannot participate in face-to-face vocational training due to their disability. Please outline the target groups of your project The target groups of the project are teachers, trainers - especially in the field of rehabilitation, but also in general vocational education - and other people working in the field of vocational education. Also students of rehabilitation pedagogy and students of social pedagogy, as well as managers of rehabilitation institutions who want to promote the possibilities of e- learning and the further development of contact and relationship building. Through the further development of contact and relationship building in e-learning, they will be strengthened in their digital teaching process. The results of our project will strengthen and qualitatively improve the essential components of successful learning. The indirect target group are trainees with disabilities in VET programmes who cannot attend face-to-face classes due to their disability. These people are usually excluded from the vocational education process. The indirect target group is to be provided with methods and support that enable relationships in digital learning processes to be built, designed and consolidated. Please describe the motivation for your project and explain why it should be funded Digital learning increased greatly during the pandemic and was seen as a way out of the education crisis when many schools were closed due to the pandemic and thus no face-to-face teaching could take place. Many teachers therefore became e-teachers from one day to the next without having the necessary skills. The experiences from face-to-face teaching were transferred one-to-one to digital teaching. In particular, no importance was attached to relationship building, the most important component of a successful educational process. Teachers assumed that there is no difference in relationship building between e-learning and face-to-face teaching. We believe this assumption is wrong. For this reason, we are concerned with the question of which factors influence relationship building in e-learning. The aim is to provide young people with disabilities, who for various reasons - mostly due to a disability - cannot participate in face-to-face teaching, with a high-quality, digital education that enables them to successfully enter the first labour market. Successful teaching is based on successful relationships. This is true in both analogue and virtual space. In modern didactics, one therefore also speaks of "relationship didactics". The importance of e-learning became apparent in the pandemic at the latest. However, the contact possibilities that come into play in face-to-face learning could only be transferred to virtual learning to a limited extent. For example, in virtual classrooms it is not possible to look each other in the eye (a very important element of relationship building). The project therefore aims to share possibilities and experiences of building relationships and contacts in digital learning. The issue of contact and relationship building in digital learning spaces has not been systematically addressed so far. The project aims to share how to strengthen the foundations of learning, maintain motivation and prevent or reduce dropouts, which have increased significantly due to the pandemic. How does the project address the needs and goals of the participating organisations and the identified needs of their target groups? The majority of our partners are educational institutions for vocational rehabilitation. The aim of services related to work rehabilitation is to increase the ability of a person to work and provide them with a better opportunity to cope with the labour market. Social rehabilitation helps people to learn new coping skills, achieve a psychological balance and to choose the right remedy tool. The partners are all on the path to digitalisation with different levels of experience. It is about developing the digital competences of the employees as well as the organisation as a whole. For all partners, the Corona pandemic has acted as a catalyst to accelerate the digitalisation process in vocational education and training. This was not always a deliberate and controlled process based on ready expertise. The aim is to further develop and professionalise digital VET. An important step towards increasing quality is the professional organisation/building of relationships in digital education. The exchange of existing experiences and their structuring helps all partners to learn from each other and to develop further. The network that we want to create helps to observe developments and to exchange new developments and experiences made in an up-to-date way. In this way, all partners can benefit from each other even after the project has ended. The participating universities contribute to the latest scientific findings on the project topic. The interest of the participating scientific institutes is the exchange between research and practice. What will be the benefits of cooperating with transnational partners to achieve the project objectives ? The experiences regarding digital learning in vocational education and training are distributed very differently in the partner countries. Estonia is generally considered to be the country that is far ahead in the field of digital transformation and for this reason has extensive experience. This is an important reason why we looked for an Estonian partner. Partners who have less experience in the field of e-learning can learn from our project. However, the focus of our project is on the relationship design in digital learning processes, i.e. it is not about technical questions but about methodological-didactic questions. We are convinced that, on the one hand, there are basic principles of relationship building that apply equally in all countries, but on the other hand, relationships in other cultures are formed differently due to the different cultural circumstances. For this reason, it is important to work with European partners in this project to specifically identify and document these cultural characteristics. We are firmly convinced that we can learn from each other in the field of relationship building precisely because of these cultural peculiarities. One of our results should be a methodological-didactic building block that contains very concrete aids for shaping relationships in digital learning formats. It should be a European building block that takes cultural differences into account, makes appropriate recommendations and at the same time be a source of inspiration for those partners who come from other cultures. Relationship building, for example, is completely different in Mediterranean countries than in Baltic countries. It is important to work out the advantages and disadvantages in such a way that the partners can benefit from each other. What are the organisation's activities in the field of this application? The Berufsbildungswerk Mosbach-Heidelberg offers digital training in various formats. Even before the pandemic, there were e-learning offers. For example, trainees who could not attend face-to-face classes due to their disability could attend the events online and thus successfully complete their training. Within the framework of the e-coaching project, trainees in external internships were advised and supervised by staff. Learning platforms, such as the Digital Continuing Education Campus of the State of Baden- Württemberg, were used even before the Corona pandemic. During the pandemic, while schools were closed, classes were relocated virtually in various conference rooms. Today, it is part of everyday life that lessons or further education and meetings are moved into the virtual space. What profiles and age groups of learners are concerned by the organisation’s work? In the vocational preparation measures, there tend to be pupils aged 16-18 who have previously attended a special school. Most of them are young people with learning difficulties who do not yet have the personal maturity for vocational training. In the vocational training courses offered by BBW, there are young people with various disabilities at an average age of 20. Depending on the training course, they may have mental disabilities, learning difficulties or behavioural problems. One of our merits is the specialisation in several cases, for example in our adolescent psychiatric centre for people with and without mental disabilities. What are the organisation's activities in the field of this application? Mariaberg has meanwhile gained and built up a lot of experience in the field of international relations. As coordinating institutions we have accompanied, built up and coordinated the project Digital Invitation - Exchange of good practice in the field of digitisation of institutions in vocational education and training. We have experience in conducting international workshops and since Corona we have also introduced more digital forms of meetings. With the introduction of a digital classroom and a digital platform for staff to implement compulsory training and professional development, we have learned the lessons of the Corona pandemic and are in the process of further professonalising in the area of digitalisation. From this wealth of experience (there are now far more than 100 online sessions a day in the institution), Mariaberg will bring the essential insights into the project. The FSSB team was leading a project “Danube Social Service & Education Cluster - Creating more accessible, effective and integrated social services and inclusive education programmes delivered to vulnerable groups in danger of social exclusion through clustering of social NGOs” under the START – Danube Region Project Fund (2014-2015). For the technical elaboration of project goals and the preparation for courses and training measures, the institution will be charged an expense allowance. So that they do not burden the partner organizations with the additional costs for their project activity, an expense allowance is paid. This is also to ensure the continuous flow of the process. What tools or methods will you use? All activities are recorded and documented by the partner in charge, in such a way that the results of each activity are highlighted. The documentation will be accessible for all partners on a common platform (e.g. google docs) so that it can be accessed at any time. The participation of the partners in the regular meetings is recorded by a certificate of attendance. During the kick-off meeting, the partners will jointly develop an evaluation sheet to be filled in by all partners after each activity, which will be included in a final evaluation sheet. During the third meeting, a summary is prepared to be given to teachers or other persons responsible for the digital process in VET, with the aim of facilitating relationship building in digital processes. During the third meeting, the partners will design an evaluation questionnaire to be filled in by colleagues using the summary in digital teaching. These results will be compiled at the final symposium. How will the participation in this project contribute to the development of the involved organisations in the long-term? Do you have plans to continue using the results of the project or continue to implement some of the activities after the project's end? All partners are involved to varying degrees in the digitisation of vocational education and training for people with disabilities. The level of experience varies among all partners. Some of the universities involved are conducting research in this field. The findings or the summaries of the meetings or workshops help all partners to benefit from each other's experience. We assume that digital vocational training for people with disabilities will experience an increase in quality. The participating universities can benefit from the practical experience, while the vocational institutions learn from the scientific findings of the universities. In this way, the scientific work of the universities can incorporate the findings of practice and vice versa. Some of the partners in the project work with learners from completely different age groups and social backgrounds. In addition, the cultural backgrounds are very different, which is on the one hand a challenge, but on the other hand an enrichment for all participating organisations, because the different cultural circumstances can open up new perspectives for shaping relationships and at the same time form the basis for critically questioning one's own approaches. For the participating VET institutions, the project offers the opportunity to increase the quality of digital VET, to use the findings from the project for the promotion of digital VET in their respective countries and thus to convince sceptics from the different sectors. Cooperation with international partners helps all organisations involved to support the internationalisation process of VET. European projects and their results also help to support marketing activities among the partners involved and thus to get more customers for digital VET and to improve the visibility of the partners involved. The close cooperation over 18 months creates a basis for closer cooperation in the field of virtual VET, the partners learn from each other, get to know each other and ideally a network is created whose effect lasts beyond the project duration. This network can be the basis for further cooperation, for example in other European projects, where exchanges are possible within the framework of mobility of VET staff or learners. Please describe your plans for sharing and use of project results. • How will you make the results of your project known within your partnership, in your local communities and in the wider public? Who are the main target groups you would like to share your results with? • Are there other groups or organisations that will benefit from your project? Please explain how. We will use different regional, national and European platforms to disseminate the results of the project. At the European level, we will share the results with the organisation EPR (European Platform for Rehabilitation). The results will feed into CEPOL's digitisation working group. Some partners are members of EPR and thus ensure the exchange of the results. All partners will display the participation in the project on their homepages. In addition, the various partner organisations have publications aimed at audiences outside the organisation. In some organisations there is also an intranet that informs other staff about the project activities, so that participation in the project activities is also made clear to staff who are not directly involved in the project. Nationally, the partners are members of various national organisations, for example the Berufsbildungswerk Mosbach-Heidelberg is a member of the Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Berufsbildungswerke, where we will report on the activities. Currently Astangu is participating in Estonian program, that boosts e-learning competences. The cooperation with reputable institutions in various partner countries also enables the dissemination of the results and can also help governmental organisations to benefit from the results. We have partners who are also involved in other European Erasmus plus projects dealing with digitalisation and we expect the projects to be mutually beneficial. Our partner in Bulgaria is actively working on the board of a non-governmental organisation in the field of social welfare, and here too there are synergy effects and opportunities for disseminating the project results. The University of Rostock will use the following dissemination channels: Working Group on Empirical Special Needs Education (AESF) German Association for Rehabilitation (DVfR) Lernen Fördern e.V. And last but not least, we will of course report on the projects in the local press. We want to find out what the differences are between relationship building in face-to-face learning and digital learning in vocational training for people with disabilities. The determinants of the relationship design in digital learning processes are to be compiled and documented and made available to all participants. The results should contribute to improving the quality of vocational training for people with disabilities in digital learning. Implementation: What activities are you going to implement? We will compile and document the different experiences of the partners both in face-to-face events and in virtual meetings. Based on the experiences, we will develop a summary that will be presented and discussed at a final symposium, as well as the experiences with this summary. We will disseminate the results together with regional and European organisations of which our partners are members. Results: What results do you expect your project to have? We will develop a summary that provides guidance on how to design relationships in digital learning processes. The aim is to enable teachers to build relationships more easily in online learning. We hope that the 18-month collaboration will deepen the relationships between the partners and build a network.
