GUIDELINES TO USE THE PIANC NAME AND LOGOS
1. PIANC, having its registered office at 1000 Brussels, Boulevard du Roi Albert II 20, 11th floor, box
3, and is enrolled with the register of legal entities under the number 0429.863.418 (‘PIANC’),
expects from its members a responsible use of its name and logos. It always needs to be ensured
that PIANC is seen as an independent, non-political and non-profit organisation.
2. Non-members and Individual Members are not allowed to use PIANC’s name and/or logos.
National Sections and Qualifying Members are allowed to use the PIANC name and the general
PIANC logo.
Platinum Partners and Corporate Members of PIANC may use PIANC’s name in accordance with
these guidelines. Two new combined logos were created to visualise the Platinum Partnership
and the Corporate Membership.
3. PIANC is an independent association and does not endorse or promote products of its members.
Example: Platinum Partners and Corporate Members can show the PIANC logo and name on an
advertisement, but they are not allowed to indicate that PIANC does in any way support the
advertised product. Furthermore, it is not allowed to cite a PIANC report to make a sales
argument.
4. If Platinum Partners/Corporate Members organise an event together with any official PIANC
body, the use of name and logo are mandatory. However, it needs to be ensured that the use of
name and logo is limited to the event. By no means should the impression be created that PIANC
is not an independent association.
5. Platinum Partners/Corporate Members are strongly encouraged to use the combined logo as
indicated in point 2 within their communication to show their connection to PIANC and to help
the association to increase its visibility, under the conditions of point 7.
Examples:
• International events to reach out to a broad range of potential members/supporters
• Company website with a link to PIANC website
• Communication on Social media with a link to PIANC Social media channels
• Print advertisement
1
6. The PIANC name and logo may only be used in communication tied to the associations aim.
Example: National Sections, Qualifying Members, Platinum Partners/Corporate Members may
use the PIANC name and logo to communicate a new project achievement but may not use it if
communicating their support of a political party or a sales message.
7. Platinum Partners and Corporate Members are asked to send their communication material (see
examples point 5) when it contains the PIANC name or logo to PIANC HQ for prior written
approval. Material should be sent timely, allowing for a minimum of three working days for
approval through PIANC. National Sections and Qualifying Members do not need to seek
approval.
8. Product Type Approvals (Type Examination Certificates for manufacturer’s products issued by a
certifying company), or any other certificates, are not issued by PIANC, as PIANC is not a
certifying body. It is not permitted to use the phrase ‘PIANC Type Approval’, or any similar
phrases. It can only be said ‘Type Approval according to PIANC’ referring to the results of PIANC
WG 211 ‘Guidelines for the Design of Fender Systems’.
9. These guidelines are violated if the PIANC name and/or logo is used
• without prior and written approval by PIANC HQ as defined under point 7
• to endorse or promote a product
• in a political sense
• for a product type certificate in the wording ‘PIANC Type Approval’, or any similar way
• if non-Platinum Partners or non-Corporate Members use the combined logos
• if non-members use the PIANC name and logo
Violation of these Guidelines will result in corrective action, including possible termination of
membership, and may also have legal consequences.
