Saatja: "Rizikianou, Georgia" <[email protected]> Saaja: "Justiits- ja Digiministeerium" <[email protected]> Teema: Personal Invitation to join a Panel at the 48th GPA on Brussels 19 November 2026 Kuupäev: 2026-09-29 15:17 Tähelepanu! Tegemist on välisvõrgust saabunud kirjaga. Tundmatu saatja korral palume linke ja faile mitte avada. Dear Ms Pakosta, I hope this email finds you well. My name is Zeta Rizikianou and I am reaching out on behalf of the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) to invite you to join CIPL’s panel on “AI and Children: Rethinking Accountability in Digital Environments” at the 48th Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) that will take place in Brussels on 16–19 November 2026. As you may know, the GPA is an annual international forum of data protection and privacy authorities from around the world, that brings together regulators and experts to discuss emerging challenges and develop shared approaches to privacy and data governance. As part of its annual meeting, the GPA organises an Open Programme that is accessible to all Congress delegates and GPA members. This year’s GPA is chaired by Privacy Commissioner Dufresne of Canada. We are pleased that the GPA programming committee selected our proposal through a highly competitive review process, recognising its strong alignment with the Assembly’s priorities and interests. Our panel will examine the opportunities and challenges arising from the growing use of AI in children’s digital experiences, with a particular focus on accountability, governance, and the protection of children’s rights. Given your expertise, we would be delighted if you would join the panel as a speaker. Please find the session details below: Date: 19 November at 09:45 to 10:45. Moderator: Natascha Gerlach, Director of Privacy Policy, CIPL Speakers: * Rafaela Nicolazzi, Data, Privacy, and Consumer Protection Lead, OpenAI * Prof. Giovanna Mascheroni , Senior Lecturer of Sociology of Communication and Culture in the Department of Sociology, Università Cattolica of Milan * Carly Kind, Australian Privacy Commissioner, OAIC Session Description: AI systems are becoming deeply integrated into everyone’s everyday life, including the digital environments children navigate daily, from algorithmically curated videos and feeds to AI-powered learning apps, chatbots, gaming platforms, and voice assistants. While these technologies can enhance learning through personalised education, support creativity and self-expression, improve accessibility, and help children discover relevant content and communities, they are also prompting growing questions and concerns around accountability, transparency, and their potential impact on children’s rights and well-being. Additionally, the emergence of agentic AI systems - capable of autonomous decision-making, adaptive behavior, and continuous interaction - marks a significant shift in how digital technologies shape children’s experiences. These systems challenge traditional accountability and governance models, raising questions about responsibility, oversight, and risk management across the AI lifecycle. This panel will explore how existing regulatory frameworks could address these challenges, highlight mitigation tools already in existence and examine how organisations can design and deploy AI systems that better protect children. What you will learn: * How current AI systems impact children and where key governance gaps exist. * How agentic AI represents a new layer of complexity. * Practical approaches to designing and governing AI systems to better protect children. We look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will be able to join us for this important discussion.
