Sir/Madam,
I have the honour to invite representatives from your Government/Organization to the
ICAO “Aviation Green Recovery – Time to build back better” Seminar, to be held as a virtual event, from
23 to 24 November 2020.
The global call to accelerate the shift towards climate-driven action has become
increasingly louder, and since the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, significant focus has been how the
global community can build back better, and the aspirations for a green aviation recovery have grown.
While the aviation industry has been especially affected by the COVID-19 crisis, this period represents a
unique opportunity to trigger a deep decarbonisation of aviation.
This Seminar offers a comprehensive approach to the potential opportunities for aviation
to take concrete measures to address environmental issues, as it seeks to “build back better”. It will
highlight the ongoing work by ICAO and the aviation community toward a green recovery, showcasing
the concrete measures in place to promote an environmentally sustainable future, and will provide a
forum for discussion on how the green aviation future can be shaped.
The preliminary programme for the event is provided in Attachment A and further
updates to the programme will be made at: https://www.icao.int/Meetings/GreenRecoverySeminar.
Additional information on the event will also be made available at this link. You are kindly requested to
nominate participants from your Government/Organization to the event on official letterhead and to
register online through the event website. The registration fee will be waived for all participants attending
this event.
