CATEGORY ‘B’ (CAT - B) HYDROGRAPHIC COURSE IN BANGLADESH
Basic Criteria
1. General: Bangladesh Navy Hydrographic School (BNHS) is accredited by International
Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers
(IBSC) since 2007 for conducting category ‘B’ Hydrographic Course. The institute is situated in
the port city Chattogram (Chittagong), Bangladesh.
2. Duration: 26 weeks with effect from 06 September 2020 to 18 February 2021.
3. Language of Instruction: English.
4. Entry Requirement: Applicants must have completed 12 years Regular High
School Certificate or equivalent exam with Mathematics and Physics, recognized by any
National Education Board.
5. Open for Foreign Students: Yes.
6. Gratis/on Payment: As per our Government policy, gratis facilities will be offered for
China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, UK, USA, Srilanka.
However, other countries may attend the course on payment basis.
7. Financial Terms and Condition for Course on Payment Basis:
Bangladesh Government will bear following expenses:
a. Free internal transportation cost in relation to training activities within station.
b. Free medical services in Combined Military Hospital (Less hospital and major surgery)
c. Free Issue of books/ precis as given to Bangladesh students.
Foreign Government will bear following expenses:
a. Pay and allowances of the students.
b. Air passage up to the training institution (Chittagong).
c. Accommodation Charges at the following rates.
(1). US $ 300 per month for single accommodation (US $ 10 per day).
(2). US $ 450 per month for married accommodation (US $ 15 per day).
d. Tuition fees at the rate US $ 600.00 per month for the entire duration of the course.
e. Food expense - Actual not exceeding US $ 400 per month.
f. Orderly charge US $ 75 per month.

8. How to Apply: Foreign candidates recommended by respective country’s
hydrographic offices or any other competent authority are to forward the applicants name not
later than 06 August 2020. Directorate of Naval Training (DNT) at Naval Headquarters, Dhaka
will be the final authority for accepting the nomination of any foreign candidate. Applications are
