State control regime and the system of inspections of ro-ro
passenger ships and high-speed passenger craft in regular
service

Further to my letter Ares(2020)183162 dated 10 January 2020 concerning the visit by EMSA in respect of the
implementation of Directive 2009/16/EC of 23 April 2009 on port State control, as amended, and the
implementation of Directive (EU) 2017/2110 of 5 November 2017 on a system of inspections for the safe
operation of ro-ro passenger ships and high-speed passenger craft in regular service, I am writing to inform
you that, following discussion between our services, we have agreed that under the present circumstances it
would not be appropriate to carry out the visit as planned and to postpone it until further notice.
I will write to you again with new dates once our programme of visits to Member States can continue normally.
