As a member of the AB , &lt; Organisation&gt; intends to provide advice on market requirements; to provide input to and feedback on project research and development; to support the consortium by identifying opportunities for potential exploitation of the results; to promote the dissemination of R-Mode Baltic results. After each meeting the AB will generate a brief consolidated report with feedback and recommendations. From today on, &lt;Organisation&gt; undertakes to keep strictly confidential all specific and detailed information concerning the R-Mode Baltic 2 project. &lt;Organisation&gt; is aware that the R-Mode Baltic 2 AB will gather ones during nine months project duration plus complementary conference calls or e-mail correspondence . Best regards , &lt;Name, Function, Signature&gt; Overview of Project R-Mode Baltic 2 The main goal of the project proposal R-Mode Baltic 2 is the evaluation of the R-Mode Baltic testbed . The testbed will be implemented in the EU co-financed Flagship project R-Mode Baltic which will be completed in September 2020. The testbed is the world’s first implementation of an R-Mode system that supports the mari ner with PNT (Positioning, Navigation and Time) data independent from GNSS based on the transmission of R-Mode signals from marine radio beacons and VDES base stations . The project R-Mode Baltic 2 continues the development and implementation of a backup system for GNSS. Within its nine month project lifetime the project team will focus on one hand on the evaluation of the testbed system and service. Here, four new monitor stations will be set up next to R-Mode transmitters and static measurements will be performed to measure the long-term R-Mode performance. In addition dynamic measurement s will be used to evaluate R-Mode performance at sea. On the other hand the project will implement concepts for self-synchronization, additional R-Mode messages, real-time calibration of R-Mode radio beacons and the real-time estimation of additional secondary factors for positioning. These activities will lead to an improved understanding of R-Mode technology and performance which will give guidance for further development of R-Mode towards an operational system in the Baltic Sea. Output of this project will lead to appropriate input to relevant recommendations on new and updated standards on marine radio beacons and VDES in order to include R-Mode functionalities; a workshops for disseminating R-Mode results ; the usage of R-Mode at European and worldwide level increas ing safety on sea by an independent positioning system . The project proposal was submitted for the second c all for extension of the INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Program under the p rogram specific objective “ Maritime safety ” . Currently, we are invited towards a full proposal submission after successfully passing the evaluation of a first concept note. The Institute of Communications and Navigation of the German Aerospace C enter (DLR) will lead this European project and the consortium consists of the following already confirmed partners from Germany, Norway, Poland, and Sweden : German Aerospace Center , Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration , Swedish Maritime Administration , Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency , National Institute of Telecommunications , RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB , Gutec AB , Kongsberg Seatex AS , NavSim Poland Ltd. , and navXperience GmbH . Associated Organizations build an Advisory Board guiding and supporting the R-Mode Baltic Project 2 .
