Subject: Preliminary steps towards MONDIACULT 2025: online survey
Sir/Madam,
As you know, the MONDIACULT 2022 Declaration reaffirmed the role of culture as a global public
good and called for its inclusion as a standalone goal in the post-2030 international development
agenda.
The Declaration has further urged UNESCO to convene a World Forum on Cultural Policies every
four years, starting from 2025. The objective of the World Forum is to address key areas of cultural
policy through a constructive and inclusive dialogue involving all relevant stakeholders. This
initiative aims to bolster multilateral action, foster collaboration and solidarity among nations and
contribute to UNESCO’s strategic workstreams.
The upcoming UNESCO World Forum on Cultural Policies – MONDIACULT 2025 will take place
in Barcelona, Spain, from 29 September to 1 October 2025. A dedicated invitation will be
addressed to you to attend this high-level event in due time.
The preparation of the World Forum is designed to be participatory and inclusive, with the aim of
ensuring contribution from all Member States. This process will include five regional consultations
that will take place between November and December 2024.
In order to feed these regional consultations, I kindly ask you to participate in an online survey,
available on the following link: https://surveys.unesco.org/mondiacult2025 (deadline:
28 June 2024). This survey aims to assess progress on the priorities set out in
MONDIACULT 2022, including the identification of any gaps and challenges in implementation.
The data collected will also contribute to the Global Report on Cultural Policy that UNESCO will
publish every four years from 2025 onwards.
Please accept, Sir/Madam, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Ernesto Ottone R.
