For my final project I am trying to do research in reducing times in developing Bathymetric Compilations for Nautical Charts generation. The Spanish Hydrographic Office/Instituto Hidrográfico de la Marina (IHM), is currently using the CARIS Ping-to-Chart solution, from bathymetric data processing to final products generation stages. In particular, for the Bathymetric Sources storage, data validation and bathymetric compilations, the IHM is using the Suite CARIS Bathy DataBASE (BDB). Is your organization using a similar solution or using standalone applications for the different stages in the Ping-to-Chart process? Yes, exactly the same. No (indicate) 5.- Despite using the above-mentioned software tools, one of the key issues that the IHM still faces is how to reduce times in developing a high-quality bathymetric compilation product prior to the final soundings selection that appear on the Nautical Chart. This apparent inefficiency is caused by the necessity of solving a series of conflicts encountered during this process (i.e. fliers, wrong metadata, holidays, different resolution sources, etc.). To what extent do you consider challenging the process of compiling a quality final bathymetric dataset from different sources (Final sounding selection, smoothed depth contours, etc.) for being used in Nautical Chart production?
