Saatja: Secretariat_President-Cour <[email protected]> Saaja: Info, Karin Leichter-Tammisto Teema: SAVE THE DATE: EUnited in diversity II - The Hague - 31 August - 1 September 2023 Dear Colleagues, Recently, the Conference Proceedings of the International Conference in Riga, Latvia, 2-3 September 2021 “EUnited in diversity: between common constitutional traditions and national identities” were published (https://curia.europa.eu/jcms/upload/docs/application/pdf/2022-06/eunited_in_diversity_-_riga_september_2021_-_conference_proceedings.pdf). You may recall that during the closing session, Ineta Ziemele, judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union and one of the principal organisers of that Riga Conference, suggested that this initiative might be continued in the future in order to make possible an ongoing judicial dialogue on that theme – EUnited in diversity – between the Constitutional Courts of the EU Member States and the Court of Justice. Conference participants from the BeNeLux courts and the Court of Justice agreed to explore that suggestion and we are delighted to be able to send you a “save the date” for a further conference that will once again contribute to the judicial dialogue that was begun in Riga, concerning the appropriate balance to be struck between the primacy of EU law and the supremacy of national constitutions in the law of the Member States. We are therefore pleased to inform you that this EUnited in diversity II conference will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, on 31 August-1 September 2023. We therefore kindly invite you to save the dates of 31 August – 1 September 2023 in your diaries. A formal invitation (for two judicial participants per Member State court) will be sent out in the spring of 2023. We hope that by that time it will be possible to confirm the dates for the conference, without the need for any caveats in relation to the global health situation.
