Kadłubowców 2 Our: 07.05.2025 No 2-1/267-2 81-336 Gdynia Poland Ammunition and munition transport in Estonia In reply to your enquiry concerning the transport of ammunition and munitions in Estonia, we would like to inform you that Estonia has not amended the requirements for the transport of civilian weapons and ammunition. However, the requirements for transporters of military weapons, weapons systems, ammunition for military weapons and munitions have changed. This means that as of 1. January 2025, any company that is qualified in the service of transporting military weapons, weapons systems, their essential components, ammunition and munition of military weapons does not need to apply for a corresponding activity licence in Estonia if the activity licence for this purpose has been issued in another Member State of the European Union. The conditions laid down for the transport itself have not changed. These requirements can be found here (§ 26 and § 27; Unfortunately, it is only available in Estonian). This means that the company transporting the military weapon, weapon system, ammunition for the military weapon and munition must still notify the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board ([email protected]) before the transport. The notification shall contain at least the following information: 1) the destination of the transport and the planned route; 2) the name and quantity of the military weapons, weapons system, ammunition for military weapons or munition to be transported; 3) the number of persons accompanying the transport and their weapons; 4) other information relevant for transport, including a copy of an activity licence issued in another Member State of the European Union. The undertaking may not commence transport until it has obtained the consent of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board to use the route described in the notice after notification.
