Article 1 and 2.3(b) of the amended regulation foresee that EMSA shall work with the Member States and develop technical solutions and provide technical assistance to the building up of the necessary national capacity for the implementation of relevant legal acts of the Union. To this end EMSA and in order to support the implementation of Directive 2017/2110/EU on the implementation on a system of inspections for the safe operation of ro-ro passenger ships and high-speed passenger craft in regular service and amending Directive 2009/16/EC and repealing Council Directive 1999/35/EC has developed a dedicated module in THETIS-EU, allowing selecting ships for inspections and to record these inspections and has enhanced further THETIS to incorporate the amendments to Directive 2009/16/EC.
