TO IALA MEMBERS Saint Germain en Laye, 15th July 2019 Our Ref.: PR/WAtoN/2020/19-181 World Marine Aids to Navigation Day 2020 Theme: “Successful Voyages, Sustainable Planet” Dear IALA members, The 1st celebration of the World Marine Aids to Navigation Day (WAtoN) held on July 1st 2019 was a tremendous success. The event was celebrated world-wide by many IALA members and I am very pleased to see the IALA Family Spirit in action across the globe. It gives me great pleasure to express my sincere thanks to all of you for your kind collaboration and great support especially those who have enthusiastically organized an event in their country. A huge thanks goes to the Industrial Members who participated in and sponsored the main WAtoN Day event in the beautiful and warm surroundings of Palma de Mallorca. Our special thanks goes to our host/organizer, the Balearic Port Authority, in Palma under the auspices of Puertos del Estado for initiating the main event. Carrying on the enthusiasm shown for this year’s event we now move to start preparing for next year’s WAtoN Day 2020. I would therefore like to invite you to submit your proposals for a venue for the next main event. The deadline for proposals will be open until the end of October 2019 in time for submission to Council 70 in December 2019.
