In the reference, the IHO Secretariat invited IHO Member States to consider nominating one suitable candidate who would benefit from the opportunity offered by the IHO-Republic of Korea (ROK) Capacity Building Programme of Cooperation to participate in the Marine Geospatial Information at the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency (KHOA). The course is recognized at the Category "B" level by the FIG-IHO-ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC). 2. The IHO Secretariat received 16 applications from 15 IHO Members States. 3. The selection board, comprising of representatives from the ROK and the IHO Secretariat met on 22 May 2019 (via videoconference) and examined all the applications received. 4. Candidates from:  Brunei Darussalam (Mr Mahdini HAJI AHMAD),  Indonesia (Mr Alin ABIMANYU),  Sri Lanka (Mr Nalin HERATH),  Suriname (Mrs Christy WARMOEN), and  Venezuela (Mr Yamfran CHANG SULBARAN). were selected for the course that will be conducted at the KHOA in Busan, Republic of Korea, from 29 July to 13 December 2019. Individual notification letters will be distributed by the IHO Secretariat with the instructions to be followed by the selected applicants. 5. The selections listed in paragraph 4 are for the nominated personnel only. National authorities may not substitute the selected candidates with any other personnel. 6. It is likely that other opportunities for education and training will be available in 2020, thanks to the continuing and generous support of the Republic of Korea. The IHO Secretariat advises those organizations whose applicants have not been selected this time to continue preparing candidates for future opportunities. 7. The IHO Secretariat congratulates those candidates who have been selected to attend and thanks the IHO Member States for their interest. 8. The IHO Secretariat would also like to renew its thanks to the Republic of Korea for the continued substantial support of the IHO Capacity Building and other programmes.
