Teema: VS: request from the Estonian Maritime Administration concerning IBNET system
Dear Tarmo,
Regarding cost to join IBNET lumpsum would be 300.000 which is less than 10% of total netto
development cost paid by SMA and FTA. That could be divided on annual basis over some
years. In addition there would be an annual share of maintenance cost around 6000.
Kind regards,
Markus

Teema: request from the Estonian Maritime Administration concerning IBNET system
Dear Markus,
The Estonian Maritime Administration is preparing a new icebreaking strategy. As the document will be
the basis for the icebreaking budget in the coming years, we would like to incorporate the topic of IBNET
into it. You and our Swedish colleagues have indicated that the use of IBNET is the basis for successful
icebreaking cooperation and Estonia must become the user of this highly valuable system. As you know,
this issue has been discussed informally, and you mentioned that the amount we have to pay to become
a user should be 10% of the value of the system, plus a certain percentage of the yearly maintenance
cost.
Would you please tell us what will be the approximate sum of money that we would have to pay to join
the system? Also, could different options be considered? For instance, would it be possible to use the
system for a fixed sum of money per year (user fee), instead of paying a bigger amount all at once?
Do you have any other solution in your mind?
Mr Taivo Kivime, Adviser to the Director General is responsible to the drafting process of the
strategy. Therefore I will add him to the cc line of this e-mail.
Respectfully yours,
Tarmo Ots
