Ares(2023)6701114 - 03/10/2023 Brussels/Madrid Subject: 16th European Platform for Roma Inclusion, 30 November 2023 Dear Minister, We are pleased to invite you to the 16th meeting of the European Platform for Roma Inclusion, which will be jointly organised by the European Commission and the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event will be held in Madrid on 30 of November 2023, addressing the topic of “Ensuring equal access to adequate desegregated housing through better use of EU and national funds”. Over the past years, the European Commission and the Member States have taken action to tackle discrimination and antigypsyism and ensure better economic and social inclusion of Roma, notably in the area of housing and the use of the EU funds in this field. The discussions during the Platform will build on the European Parliament Resolution on the situation of Roma people living in settlements in the EU adopted in October 2022. The Platform will offer a forum to present the Council Conclusions on ensuring access to housing for Roma, that are currently under discussion in the Council. It will also provide political steer to the meeting of National Roma Contact Points taking place the following day. The 2023 Platform will be a good opportunity for Member States, EU institutions and civil society to reiterate their commitment to Roma equality, inclusion and participation through the effective implementation of national Roma strategic frameworks and national specific and mainstream policies.
