Teema: Dec 15 Keynote Panel Invite: Cultural Data Analytics Conference 2023 & CUDAN
Advisory Board replacement
Dear Secretary General Kristiina Alliksaar,
I am writing to you today regarding the Advisory Panel of the EU ERA Chair project for
Cultural Data Analytics at Tallinn University, which includes high-profile representation
from the Estonian Ministry of Culture since 2020 (cf. https://cudan.tlu.ee/team/#cudan-
advisory-board).
Preparing for the international flagship conference of our project, I have realized that Taaniel
Raudsepp has been replaced as the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Arts. It is for this reason, I
am writing to you today, with the kind request to replace Taaniel Raudsepp on the
CUDAN Advisory Board, and in addition with a keynote panel invitation, now redirected
to you. The keynote invite is the final action requested from the Advisory Board before the
presentation of the final project report as our project ends in August 2024.
Keynote panel invite:
Dear Secretary General Kristiina Alliksaar,
With great pleasure we are looking forward to the Cultural Data Analytics Conference from
December 13 to 16, 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia, which is a flagship event of our CUDAN ERA
Chair project (cf. https://cudan.tlu.ee/conference).
Today, I'd like to cordially invite you to participate in a keynote panel discussion on "The
State of Cultural Data Analytics" (working title). Placed prominently in the conference
schedule, in the late afternoon plenum on December 15, 2023. This keynote panel discussion
(1 of 2) will complement 4 keynote lectures, 54 accepted long, and 25 short talks by
participants from all over the world.
The panel would ideally feature all six CUDAN Advisory Board members, Jaan Tallinn,
Julio M. Ottino, Luukas Kristjan Ilves, Ott Jalakas, Pille Runnel, and a successor of
Taaniel Raudsepp (cf. https://cudan.tlu.ee/team/#cudan-advisory-board). Featuring all
distinguished CUDAN Advisory Board members, the panel discussion would strive to
emphasize the leading role of cultural and digital governance in Estonia, further exemplify
cutting edge entrepreneurship, readiness/desires of cultural institutions, and the ongoing
relevant challenges of artificial intelligence and true multi-disciplinarity. Beyond the
conference, the keynote panel discussion will reach a broader audience, through the inclusion
in our cultural data analytics Youtube channel, which already brings together a large number
of leading voices from all over the world (https://www.youtube.com/@CUDANLab/videos).
In terms of procedure, the idea is to allocate a total of ten minutes to each panelist, split in two
rounds of questions, and eventually questions from the audience. Two possible questions
could for example address the perceived relevance of cultural data analytics in your area of
activity, and desires from your perspective, which the scholarly community and/or teaching
curricula should address.
In short:
Please let us know if we can list you as a CUDAN Advisory Board Member, as a replacement
for Taaniel Raudsepp in his former government function, until the end of our project duration.
Please also let us know if you (or a fitting replacement of your choice) can accept the keynote
panel invitation.
Please RSVP until Monday, October 30.
Kind regards,
Max Schich, on behalf of the CUDAN 2023 organizing team.
