INVITATION TO HONORARY RUN “ON THE WAY OF LIFE AND DEATH”
Dear partners,
It is a great pleasure to invite your representatives (14–18 years old, 10 pax and the 2 group
leaders) to participate in Lithuania’s traditional international running to commemorate the victims
of soviet assault in Vilnius “On the way of life and death” on 10th January 2026.
In the night of January 13th, 1991, Soviet troops tried to assault the Vilnius TV tower and the
Radio and Television Committee building. During these events many Lithuanian citizens were
injured and 14 of them have died. This unfortunate historical event is honoured by a 9 kilometre
run, called “On the way of life and death”. This event is not a contest, there are no winners, but a
special award will be awarded to every participant who finishes the required distance of 9 km.
Honorary run agenda:
11.30 – Welcome speeches of the organizers and guests.
11.45 – Ceremony to honour the Defenders of Freedom (flowers will be placed on their
graves).
12.00 – The XXXIV annual “On the way of life and death” run official start.
13.10 – Participation in the award ceremony.

whether you will be able to attend the honorary run “On the way of life and death” until 12 th of
December. If you are planning to arrive one day before the event (9th January 2026), please inform
us in advance and provide details about your accommodation requirements. We kindly ask you to
fill the participants’ form (Annex) and send the names to our contact person till 15th of December.
