HYDROGRAPHIC ATELIER
REMOTE SENSING TÉLÉDÉTECTION
WORKSHOP HYDROGRAPHIQUE
CANADA 2018 CANADA 2018
Greetings,
You are cordially invited to attend the first International Hydrographic Remote Sensing (HRS)
Workshop.
The Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), in collaboration with Service Hydrographique et
Océanographique de la Marine (SHOM) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA), is organizing the first international HRS-TH workshop taking place September 18 to 20, 2018 in
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The workshop is being held with the support of the International Hydrographic
Organization (IHO).
The goal of the workshop is to accelerate the implementation of remote sensing and Satellite Derived
Bathymetry (SDB) in hydrography. To do so, the workshop will focus on three main themes:
Day 1 (September 18, 2018) – HRS in support of planning, monitoring, risk assessment:
Water Clarity monitoring for Lidar planning;
HRS as reconnaissance survey tool;
Natural disaster recovery, survey planning;
Change detection (bathymetry, shoreline); and,
Chart adequacy analysis.
Day 2 (September 19, 2018) – HRS Hydrospatial applications and services:
Integration of Satellite Derived Bathymetry on navigation products;
Chart representation and standards (S-44 / S-57 / S-100);
HRS process inclusion in traditional Hydrographic offices workflows; and,
Potential collaborations, joint initiatives, capacity development.
Day 3 (September 20, 2018) – HRS Emerging technology, solutions, sensors and missions:
Existing and emerging technologies which can be leveraged for HRS purposes;
Potential and limitations of existing sensor technologies in terms of data accuracy, precision,
and their suitability in various applications; and,
Expected technological advances and their impact on HRS.
Registration
In order to attend the workshop, participants must register by submitting their registration form to
[email protected] no later than July 13, 2018. Note that there are no registration fees.
If you are interested in presenting, submit an abstract (250 to 500 words) along with your registration. If
you wish to be a panel member for the first or second day, submit a brief résumé along with your
registration. The deadline for abstract and panel member submissions is also July 13, 2018.
