Our countries share a very similar path in re-establishing their independent states and we cannot underestimate the importance of Constitutional Courts in transforming and building the democratic society we live in today. Moreover, allow me to extend my sincere congratulations to you and your colleagues for the truly excellent organisation of the International Conference dealing with the dialogue between the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Constitutional Courts of the Member States. I express my sincere regrets for not being able to travel to Riga and I am very thankful for the opportunity to follow the discussions via videoconference.
