Dear Mr. Arikas,
It is a great honour and privilege to extend my invitation to you for Georgia International Maritime Forum 2018. The GIMF2018 will be
organised by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Georgia H.E. Mr. Giorgi
Kvirikashvili.
As an emerging maritime country within the Black Sea region with growing importance in shipping, Georgia’s aspirations are rightly
aligned with that of international trading community i.e. to be proactive, bold and courageous in facing major challenges of ever-developing
industry standards, demands and regulations. This year’s theme underpins IMO’s 70th anniversary and as GIMF2016 declaration noted the
theme will be elaborated taking into consideration the linkage between safe, secure, efficient and environmentally friendly maritime
transportation, the development of global trade, the world economy and, the realisation of new United Nations development agenda and the
Sustainable Development Goals. GIMF 2018 will be attended by major players in shipping sector, including ministers of transports of major
shipping States and the region, Secretary Generals of various international organizations, such as International Maritime Organization,
industry representatives and other high profile guests, allowing room for exchanges of idea between various stakeholders.
GIMF 2018 will be held in September 2018 at its traditional host city of Batumi, Georgia’s maritime gateway. The dates for the Forum has
been set for 12-14 September.
