In the reference, the IHO Secretariat invited IHO Member States to consider nominating one suitable candidate who would benefit from the opportunity offered by the IHO-Republic of Korea (ROK) Capacity Building Project to participate in the Hydrographic Survey Programme at the Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency (KHOA). The course is recognized at the Category "B" level by the FIG/IHO/ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC). 2. The IHO Secretariat received 21 applications from 20 IHO Members States. 3. The selection board, comprising representatives from the ROK and the IHO Secretariat met on 17 May 2018 and examined all the applications received. 4. Candidates from: − Colombia (Mr Harold ROJAS MACIAS), − Cyprus (Ms Chrysanthi KLEANTHOUS), − Georgia (Mr Levani KORTAVA), − Jamaica (Mr Omar O'Neil GREY), − Russian Federation (Mr Maksim KHANIN), − Tunisia (Mr Houssem SADKI), and − Uruguay (Mr Matias COCCARO) were selected for the course that will be conducted at the KHOA in Busan, Republic of Korea, from 12 July to 30 November 2018. Individual notification letters will be distributed by the IHO Secretariat with the instructions to be followed by the selected applicants. 5. The selections listed in paragraph 4 are for the nominated personnel only. National authorities may not substitute the selected candidates with any other personnel. 6. It is likely that other opportunities for education and training will be available in 2019, thanks to the continuing and generous support of the Republic of Korea. The IHO Secretariat advises those organizations whose applicants have not been selected this time to continue preparing candidates for future opportunities. 7. The IHO Secretariat congratulates those candidates that have been selected and thanks the IHO Member States for their interest.
