Letter of support 28.05.2024 PROJECT Project name: Coordinating and Supporting European Union AI Regulatory Sandboxes Project acronym: EU-AIRS Coordinator Federico Menna, EIT Digital contact: Call: DIGITAL-2024-AI-ACT-06-SANDBOX — AI regulatory sandboxes: EU-level coordination and support To whom it may concern, The EU-AIRS provides support and coordination at EU and National level for AI regulatory sandbox creation to be established under the future AI Act. With the AI Act adopted in March 2024 by the European Parliament and to be entered into force after formal publication at OJ, Member States have 24 months to establish regulatory sandboxes, indicatively by June 2026. EU-AIRS will play a critical role in coordinating and supporting Member States in setting up the AI regulatory sandboxes according to the relevant provisions of the AI Act. EU-AIRS will: - Support the EU Member states (MSs) and National Competent Authorities (NCAs) in establishing and operating the AI Regulatory Sandboxes (AIRS), and - Coordinate the work of Member States and NCAs at the EU level AI & Robotics Estonia (AIRE) of Tallinn University of Technology in our capacity as an active partner of Coordinating and Supporting European Union AI Regulatory Sandboxes supports EIT Digital and its partners in the implementation and is eager to contribute to the project via its working groups engagement.
