Teema: RE: Invitation to contribute to the Social platform Network Meeting in Riga -
December 2014
Dear Marie,
Thank you for the invitation! I’m sure we’ll be able to contribute!
Considering the audience my preferred topic would be the quality circle (plan-do-check-act) & roles of different
stakeholders (policy makers, funders, service providers, partners) in making the circle complete based on the sector
analyses that we carried out in Estonia during 2012-2013. So the workshop would address some challenges that we
have in Estonia and that are most probably the same in different countries.
I havent spoken to Daiga yet but if this is something we go for, we could combine the Estonian & Latvian experience.
This is defenatley a great opportunilty for dissemination and promotion of quality of social services!
Greetings,
Keiu

Subject: Invitation to contribute to the Social platform Network Meeting in Riga - December 2014
Dear Daiga Eiduka
Dear Keiu Talve,
I hope you are well.
I am contacting you because a meta network that we are a member of, the Social platform, is organising a networking meeting in
Riga in December of this year, in anticipation of the Latvian Presidency that will start in January of 2015.
The 2-day event is organised in collaboration with Mr Augulis, of the Ministry of Welfare, and typically it would have the
following elements:
- Civil society conference on the social dimension of the Latvian EU presidency priorities.
- Attendance: about 100 persons from a wide range of key stakeholders including governmental representatives and
Latvian and EU civil society.
- Organisation of study visit to local NGOs and service providers as side-activities
- Members of the platform, including EPR, can organise parallel workshops about initiatives and topics that influence the
local, regional and the European level.
This is where Guus and I think SOS Children's villages in Riga and Astangu, as a member of EPR, could be very relevant.
You could contribute, if you want to, a parallel workshop session on Quality Management for social services providers grounded
in a human-rights approach and continuous improvement. It does not have to be focused on EQUASS itself. It can focus on a
specific quality principle or a wider approach for quality improvement; keeping in mind that some of the audience are NGOs who
deliver services, and other are NGOs and policy makers who do not, but have an interest in the social sector development.

I have contacted the Social Platform, and they are in principle interested in organising something along those lines, especially
when it has a relevance at a Latvian, Baltic and European level.
Of course, if you can think of another topic to present together that also has that Latvian, Baltic and European relevance, in the
topic of social affairs, I am happy to listen to your proposals.
I do not have a date for the event just yet, I only know it is in December, but i will know more soon.
Could you please let me know if this is something you would be interested to contribute to? We have a first preparatory
meeting in Brussels with the platform in the middle of October, so it would be great to know if you have an interest by
then.
I will be happy to take your questions about this, and look forward to hear from you.
With kind regards,
Marie Dubost
