Dear Mister President,
I would like to congratulate you on your election as Vice-President of the Board of our Network
I wish you every success in building our European partnership to make it even stronger under
the European Union motto "united in diversit/'("Ühinenud mitmekesisuses").
As we approach the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the adoption of the first Polish
Constitution - "Konstytucja 3 Maja" on 3 May 1791 (and the first modern constitution of the
European Continent), which testifies to a long-lasting Polish legal culture and the tradition of
the parliamentary democracy that has always motivated Poles to defend our freedom and
values. This important anniversary of the Polish constitutionalism has inspired me to send you
a modest card featuring painting by the great Polish artist of German and Czech ancestry,
Jan Matejko, who immortalised adoption of the Constitution of 3 \lay 1791.
I hope you will find this picture as a sign of friendship, to which I attach my invitation to Warsaw
I trust that the coming years will help us to better understand each other, co-operate and
develop our bilateral and European partnership even stronger.
