Dear all,
from our user community we have been asked to explore the possibilities
to add the Estonian Vector charts to the available portfolio of OpenCPN.
Just to introduce us:
OpenCPN, the free and open Plotter and Navigation program (opencpn.org),
is developed and supported by its developer and user community from all
over the world and can be used on a broad range of devices starting from
RasberryPies up to networked works stations under Windows, Linux or
macOS. An Android version is in place as well.
Our wild estimate tells us that we have more than 250.000 users.
Renate Rosner Consult S.L. is representing the OpenCPN developer
community where required - for example as S-63 OEM at the IHO - and
licenses as such chart material for OpenCPN from various Hydrographic
Offices like BSH, UKHO or SHOM and NMA. We are about to close contracts
with Denmark, Sweden, Italy and the Australian Hydrographic Service.
The Norwegian and German charts have found a great welcome from our
users and hence they urge us to include more Scandinavian and Baltic
countries.
The publishing of the licensed chart material is realized under the
commercial name of o-charts and you will find our actual chart portfolio
at o-charts.org
We would like to learn what would be the most appropriate way to give
access to your charts to a user group that mainly consists from leisure
sailors, who, as you will know, are very cost conscious and therefore
not able to enter in cost schemes like those for S-63 - with few
exceptions.
We will be happy to discuss with you the possible solutions.
With best regards
Hubert Kleis
