Subject: Question about Bareboat registration
Dear sir/madam,
I have a question that concerns the registration in Estonia of foreign vessels under a bareboat
charterparty to an Estonian company.
If a foreign ship is registered in the Estonian Register of Bareboat Chartered Ships, can it be subject to
registration of mortgages in Estonia? I assume that the answer is ‘no’ but I cannot find it expressed in
neither the Law of maritime Property Act (Laeva asjaõigusseadus) nor in the Law of Ship Flag and Ship
Registers Act (Laeva lipuõiguse ja laevaregistrite seadus).
Sincerely,
Paula Bäckdén
