ABOUT EIC PATHFINDER
• The EIC aims to identify and support breakthrough technologies and game-changing innovations with the potential
to scale up internationally and become market leaders. It supports all stages of innovation from research and
development on the scientific underpinnings of breakthrough technologies, to validation and demonstration of breakthrough
technologies and innovations to meet real-world needs.
• EIC Pathfinder Open supports early-stage development of such future technologies (e.g. various activities at low
Technology Readiness Levels 1-4), based on high-risk/high-gain science-towards-technology breakthrough research
(including ‘deep-tech’). This research must provide the foundations of the technology.
• Essential characteristics (‘Gatekeepers’) for the project:
- Convincing long-term vision of a radically new technology that has the potential to have a transformative
positive effect to our economy and society.
- Concrete, novel, and ambitious science-towards-technology breakthrough, advancing the envisioned
technology.
- High-risk/high-gain research approach and methodology, with concrete and plausible objectives.
• Consortium of partners with at least one legal entity established in a Member State; and at least two other independent legal
entities, each established in different Member States or Associated Countries.
• Grant for a Research and Innovation Action to cover the eligible costs, necessary for the implementation of your project. EIC
considers proposals with a requested EU contribution of up to EUR 3 million as appropriate. The funding rate of this grant
will be 100% of the eligible costs.
• Maximum lenght of proposal, covering Sections 1 to 3 of the part B, corresponding to the award criteria Excellence, Impact,
and Quality and Efficiency of the Implementation with the limit of 17 format A4 pages.
• Expected time for submission of proposals – March 7th 2024
