Dear Hydrographer,
1. The Inter-Regional Coordination Committee (IRCC) at its ninth meeting in Paramaribo, Suriname, in
June 2017 (see Reference A) endorsed the draft New Edition 2.0.0 of the IHO Publication C-17 Spatial Data
Infrastructures "The Marine Dimension" - Guidance for Hydrographic Offices. The extensive review followed
the procedures established by Reference B.
2. The IHO Council endorsed the draft New Edition 2.0.0 and tasked the IHO Secretariat to circulate it to
IHO Member States for their consideration and approval (see Reference C – Decision C-1/28 and Action C-
1/29).
3. The draft New Edition 2.0.0 is available on the IHO website at: www.iho.int → Standards &
Publications → Download → Draft Publications Awaiting Approval by Member States (English version only).
4. Member States are requested to take into account the endorsement of the IHO Council and to consider
the adoption of New Edition 2.0.0 of the IHO Publication C-17 Spatial Data Infrastructures "The Marine
Dimension" - Guidance for Hydrographic Offices by providing their reply on the Voting Form in Annex, at
their earliest convenience and no later than 30 January 2018.
5. Comments, suggestions and guidance provided by Member States, will be considered by the MSDIWG
at its 9th Meeting in Niteroi, Brazil (29 January – 2 February 2018).
