APPLICATION
for providing information
When conducting a scientific research in criminal procedure law on the topic "Re-
examination of existing rulings due to a substantive violation of material or procedural law in the
legal space of the Baltic states", it is necessary to gather information on the criminal cases of this
category reviewed by the Supreme Court of Estonia.
As I am conductin$ a scientific study and such particular infoÄation is not pLrblicly available.
I would ask you to find a possibility to provide detailed information on the cases of this category
considered at the Supreme Court of Estonia. The information desired should cover the period frorn
20,l5 to 2019 inclusive (i.e. the last five years), indicating the following information for each year
separately:
1) how many criminal cases, in which the ruling has entered into force, have been accepted
for review due to a substantive violation of material or procedural norms of law;
2) in how many of the accepted cases, the application has been based on:
- a substantive violation of material law;
- a substantive violation of procedural law.
3) from the accepted and reviewed criminal cases, the number of cases in which a ruling has
been made:
- the court decision has been left unchanged;
- the court decision has been cancelled in whole or in paft, the ruling has been amended or the
proceedings have been terminated;
The results of the research will be published in the scientific journal "Acta Prosperitatis" of
the University tURIBa
Thank you in advance for your understanding and responsiveness.
Yours sincerely
Inese Baikovska
