World Energy Council Suite 101 – 102 Hamilton House 1 Temple Avenue London EC4Y 0HA United Kingdom T (+44) 20 7734 5996 [email protected] www.worldenergy.org @WECouncil Shape the Future of Energy: Exclusive Invitation Dear Esteemed Colleague, We are honoured to invite you to join our exclusive World Energy Council Executive Dialogue for Senior Policymakers and Senior Government Officials, co-hosted by Maria van der Hoeven, former Executive Director of the International Energy Agency and now Senior Advisor to the Secretary General for Energy Literacy at the World Energy Council. As discussed at the recent 26th World Energy Congress, a new era of energy transitions requires innovative, transformative approaches in response to rapidly changing global dynamics. We face unprecedented interconnections between energy systems, technology, and geopolitics, which demand a reimagined approach to policy and leadership to navigate complex trade-offs and deliver energy resilience and justice. The reality: What got us here won’t get us to where we need to go. The Call to Reorganise for Transformation Today’s challenges call for rethinking the very structures and strategies that have traditionally guided energy policy. Moving beyond top-down, supply-side, and technology-centric approaches, true transformation requires the active involvement of people at every level. To achieve deeper decarbonization with justice and resilience, as highlighted in the recently released World Energy Trilemma 2024 report, all energy levers will be needed—financial, technological, and societal. Scaling the push of technology and financial innovation depends on managing complex, interconnected coordination challenges, and our success hinges on aligning these with the pull of societal transformation. A New Leadership Mindset for Radical Change In this dialogue, titled "Evolving with Resilience and Justice," Maria van der Hoeven will lead us in exploring how this multidimensional leadership mindset leverages collaboration, policy innovation, and bold decision-making to propel systemic transformation. This session will foster TRUSTEES ANGELA WILKINSON MIKE HOWARD NAOMI HIROSE CLAUDIO SEEBACH KIM YIN WONG Chair – Secretary General Chair Chair – Impact Chair – Asia Latin America/Caribbean World Energy Council, FAHAD ALAJLAN OMAR FAROUK IBRAHIM OMAR ZAAFRANI Chair – Gulf States / Middle East Chair – Africa BARBARA TERENGHI Chair – Communications & Company Limited by Guarantee Chair – Programme Committee Registered in England Strategy Committee JOHN CARNEGIE CRISTINA MORALES BURKHARD VON KIENITZ and Wales No. 4184478 Chair – Finance Chair – Future Energy Leaders Chair – Regional Initiatives VAT Reg.
