The meeting was attended by 9 members of the Panel of Legal Experts and was chaired by Deputy Director General and Director of International and Regulatory Affairs, Dr. Renata Brazil-David. The meeting elected by acclamation Prof. Dr. Stephan Hobe from the Party of Germany as Chairman of the Panel of Legal Experts (2024-2028). The election of Prof. Dr. Stephan Hobe, a distinguished legal expert and former ITSO Panel member, strengthens the panel's expertise. Prof. Dr. Stephan Hobe was first elected a member of the Panel of Legal Experts in 2018. He is a professor of air, space, telecommunications, cyber and international law and has relevant publications including his book on Space Law, 2nd. edition 2023. The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) is an intergovernmental organization based in Washington, DC, with 149 member nations. ITSO’s role is to ensure that Intelsat S.A. provides public telecommunications services, including voice, data and video, on a global and non-discriminatory basis. Previously known as “INTELSAT”, the organization was established in 1973 and restructured in 2001, resulting in the creation of a private entity, Intelsat, Ltd (Now called Intelsat S.A.) and the nternational intergovernmental organization, referred to as ITSO.
