Kuupäev: 2024-10-03 10:49
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have the pleasure to invite you to participate in the Fifth
International Telecommunication Union (ITU)- European Mediterranean
Regulators Group (EMERG)- Eastern Partnership Electronic Comm. Regulators
Network (EaPeReg) Joint Workshop on “Strengthening Broadband
Infrastructure and Services across the Europe Region and beyond” which
will be held on 9 October 2024 in Nicosia, Cyprus (Hybrid). The workshop
will be co-organized by the ITU Office for Europe, EMERG, and EaPeReg.
This workshop is part of a series of workshops aimed at advancing
broadband mapping, showcasing case studies, sharing best practices, and
exploring new features of mapping tools, including an investment
opportunities layer. This collaborative effort between ITU, EMERG, and
EaPeReg seeks to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of broadband
services across the regions. The event follows the joint declaration
signed by these entities during the Global Symposium for Regulators 2023
(GSR23).
The workshop aligns with ITU's goal of achieving the UN Sustainable
Development Goals by 2030 through advancing digital transformation at
national, regional, and global levels. It recognizes the pivotal role of
telecommunications regulators in the Mediterranean area, represented by
EMERG, and the regulatory authorities from the Eastern Partnership
countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and
Ukraine) under EaPeReg.
The workshop will provide a unique opportunity for dialogue between
stakeholders on strategies and policies directed towards broadband
infrastructure and services mapping. It will cover in particular the
following aspects:
*
Strengthening collaboration in the field of mapping of broadband
infrastructure and services.
*
Identification and sharing of good practices and transfer of
know-how.
*
Setting up twinning programmes between the concerned countries and
regions.
*
Examination of potential new features of mapping tools including
the investment opportunities layer.
Representatives of European Regulatory Agencies, Ministries, Operators of
Electronic Communications, Academia, as well as representatives and
experts of international organizations and institutions in charge of the
regulation and development policy of electronic communications are invited
to take part in this workshop. Remote participation is also available, and
