Sport clubs are a critical part of the European Sport Model. They are direct providers of sport
services to citizens and the main providers of sport services for children and young people in
Europe. They are also the basis of the largest volunteering movement in Europe. Without
volunteers, many sport clubs would not be able to deliver their services to citizens.
The study on the economic dimension of volunteering in sport was conducted to inform policy
making through empirical data. Research results will be presented at the conference to
promote better policy making in the field of sport with the objective of enabling sport clubs
to provide sport services to citizens. The study on the economic impact of volunteering in
sport, the objectives of the EVIS Project, and the recommendations to policy makers will be
presented by the experts in the field of sport economy Günther Grohall, Themis Kokolakakis,
PhD, Anna Kleissner, PhD, and Alma Papić.
