Dear Ministers,
Thank you for your letter dated 30 October 2023 regarding Finland’s, Sweden’s and Estonia’s
concerns regarding the future adoption of acts under Directive (EU) 2020/2184 on drinking
water (the ‘Directive’) regulating the materials and products in contact with water. I can
assure you that we have fully appreciated the political importance that you attach to this issue.
As you are aware, the Commission has published the concerned draft Implementing and
Delegated acts on the Commission’s ‘Have Your Say’ portal for public consultation until
16 November 2023. The replies from the Finnish, Swedish and Estonian authorities, industry
and other stakeholders have been carefully analysed.
Based on the feedback received during this public consultation, , the Commission will update
the draft acts to address the issue you raised, and will present them for approval in December
to the members of the Directive ad hoc Committee.
Yours sincerely,
