Subject: Prdumine
Tere pevast,
AS Merktrans on olnud Finnlines agendiks aastast 2014.
Selle aja jooksul teostasid liiniomaniku Finnlines laevad ligi 60 laeva
klastust Paldiski Phjasadamasse.
Seoses asjaoluga, et merelaevanduse turul valitseb raske majanduslik
olukord, prdub Finnlines-i
omanik palvega
leida vimalust alandada Finnlines liinilaevade jaoks veeteetasu.
Antud kirjale lisame Finnlines-i ametliku prdumise.

Good day,
as you know Finnlines is been trading to/from Paldiski since 2015 aimed by a genuine spirit of growth
and wishful to intensify the flows with Spain, Belgium, Finland.
Unfortunately despite all the good will and the pro-active cooperation of Your team, we haven´t yet
reached the deserve level of satisfaction, partly because of the general market condition but also
because of the strong competition coming from the other Baltic ports (Riga, Klaipeda, Ventspils, etc)
which are cheaper.
As we know a larger part of the cargo traded to Paldiski is bound to CIS and STAN countries and thus the
mentioned ports represent an alternative way of transit to central areas.
The above having said, we retain that by increasing the frequency of our service from fortnightly to
weekly, we shall win a larger part of the business but we need to have the support of all the parties to
cut down the cost and make our offer competitive and sustainable.
Unfortunately what is so far preventing us from jumping into a weekly service is the high cost of the
waterways dues which in Paldiski are almost three times more expensive than other Baltic ports.
This is a significant cost difference and an important element of non-competitiveness which prevent Us
and therefore the whole Paldiski area to growth in the market and to develop the businesses.
As commented we have been trading with Paldiski since 2015 and to now we have made more than 60
port call; we have the capacity, the willingness but especially the need to enlarge the cargo turnover and
thus we are looking for the support of the local administration to resume the competitiveness of Port of
Paldiski by cutting the waterways dues cost to the regular liner service which grants the cargo supply but
also work as spin-off for the local economy.
We are confident in a good development of the issue for the profitable and long lasting cooperation.
Br Liivo
