The International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presents its
compliments and has the honor to invite representatives of Members and Observers to
attend the global launch of the 2025 edition of the Global Innovation Index (GII). The event
will showcase the latest rankings of innovation performance across economies worldwide
and include a panel discussion on “Innovation at a Crossroads: Charting the Future”.
The launch will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
(CEST) at WIPO headquarters in Geneva,. It will be held in a hybrid format, with a live
stream accessible on WIPO’s website at https://webcast.wipo.int/home, requiring no prior
registration. For those attending in person, registration is available at
https://www.wipo.int/meetings/en/details.jsp?meeting_id=87431.
The working language will be English with simultaneous interpretation in Arabic, Chinese,
./. French, Russian and Spanish. The draft program is attached.
In addition, and before the global GII launch, representatives of Members and Observers are
invited to follow the global launch of the GII Ranking of World’s Top 100 Innovation Clusters
2025 organized by WIPO together with the People’s Republic of China and hosted by Hong
Kong, China, on September 1, 2025, via webcast

The GII evaluates the innovation performance of around 140 countries and of the top 100
innovation clusters, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and data gaps. Through this
publication, WIPO aims to deepen the understanding of global innovation ecosystems and
support evidence-based policymaking.
